Carnival 2013 in Dusseldorf Germany

As visiting Dusseldorf Germany for an official tour this year and lucky enough at the time when city was in mood of festivity, so sharing the mood of city in this post.
Dusseldorf is city that is known for its cosmopolitan character and sophisticated living (Düsseldorf ranks No. 5 on a list of global cities in quality of life. The carnival season in Germany (also called the "Fifth Season") officially begins on November 11th, at 11:11 a.m. The actual celebrations of the German carnival take place 40 days before Easter. The celebrations kick off with "Women’s Carnival" on Thursday before Ash Wednesday (Feb 7 2013). The next big highlight is Rose Monday where Marching bands, dancers, and floats parade down the streets, throwing confetti, sweets, and toys. 





The elaborate floats often show caricatured figures mocking politicians and other personalities. Rose Monday (Feb 11 2013) in a huge parade that shuts down the city center, while the quiet Ash Wednesday marks the end of the frenzied fun.
